Mantic Games: Kings of War

Postby AllAboutGames » Sun Feb 23, 2014 6:09 pm

Has anyone ever seen Mantic Games miniatures (Kings of War in particular) in person? I am mainly interested in seeing on how they match up to GW's stuff and the overall quality and look of the models. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks!

The ones I have seen up close are pretty similar size but the detail and quality looked to me like what GW models looked like in 1995. Not bad at all (though the dwarf models blow chunks) but nothing terribly exciting.

Mantic games King miniatures use the same bases sizes as GW. For the most part GW models are notecibly bigger but its not bad. If you keep the models seperated by regiment they will look fine. Are you interested in a game. I play Kings of War and WHFB. Both really good systems. For warhammer I have dwarves for Kings I have Goblins and Ogres and a few orcs. I plan on using all three in one army as KINgs has more of a libral allies system. KoW is a great system and plays very fast. I can do 2500 points of kings in about 1/2 the time of whfb.

This past weekend we were discussing a perceived 'vanilla' approach in Kings of War to magic.
I just found out that Mantic changed the Zap rules (a previously generic ranged attack) to give it more flavor.

One of the Mantic forums guys made up a nice, Mantic-authorized reference card.
He also has a magic item summary; magic items let you buff heroes or units (faster, better shots, close combat, etc.).
Both of these references plus the FREE full rules and army lists for download, let you play KoW.

Get double duty out of your fantasy models!
