Great Mercs post

Postby JBFlanz » Tue Aug 16, 2011 8:01 pm

Found this in the merc forums

The other faction are like spider-man, x-men, green lantern. They have powers that they rely on, and its obvious what those powers are, thus the counter to those powers are obvious.

Mercs are like Batman, no real powers, just a guy who can hold his own in a fight, with lots of nifty gadgets that can help in any situation. There's no obvious counter to that. The second you figure out how to counter the gadget he used last time, he shows up with 5 new ones.

I like Batman...I Like mercs.

Wait a tick what faction are the x-men cause that is a whole team of superheros that seem to change members all the time! Seems pretty toolbox to me, I find fault in the writer's reference!

On another note if mercs are batman what does that make minions?
Yes, I'm a ninja. No, I won't show you my moves.

My first thought would be Cygnar would easily meet the Criteria of X-men. I mean look at my color scheme. They, unlike some of the other Warmachine factions, can easily switch up their support and still be well off. they do not necessarily having a staple model/unit (Granted eHaley but then again Prof. X. is always there somewhere :bravo: ) Also, they are not "Super Heroes" per se just mutants, humans slightly better than the rest.

On the other note, Merc = batman reference is good. If I had to think of something I would say Minions = Clayface. Early on they give a beating and can improvise numerous tools but in the end they just aren't enough and he ends up geting washed away to comeback another day.

I would have thought you would go for a Croc reference if staying in the batman theme.

I was leaning more towards a generalization of their abilities in the tabletop not so much a visual representation. :thumbsup:

Croc came up initially, but I feel that minions in general were much more versatile than croc. And super pig.. I would have used this pic

Skorne is clearly the only faction that resembles anything close to the X-Men. They have at least 3 models that shoot energy from their eyes, the only faction that has wolverine claws and Raseth has the most wheelchair like device of any caster.

@Brandon: Hahaha, that was perfect.

I'd have to say that Minions is Robin, Batman's sidekick.
